Song/Remix of the Day: Adele – Someone Like You (BuffetLibre Remix)

Toronto – Adele pretty much rules the world right now. When Justin Bieber’s girlfriend and Beyonce can not knock you off the top of the charts, you know you got something special going on.

This is a remix of the the single “Someone Like You” by some of my favorite remixers out there, Buffet Libre. It takes the heart breaking piano ballad that Adele composed for her sophomore album 21 and turns it into something more … dance-able, because let’s face it – it’s summer time and it’s time to have more fun. Dance beats and friendly synthesizers turn this track into something you can throw on the dance floor where you’ll probably see a few girls dancing and crying at the same time. Reach for the tissues and bust a move.

Song of the Day: San Cisco – Golden Revolver

Toronto – In my never ending quest to find the perfect summer song, I stumbled upon San Cisco‘s track “Golden Revolver.” A warm track featuring gang choruses, Vampire Weekend-ish guitar riffs and the cowbell, Golden Revolver certainly makes the case for being one of the better summer tracks this year.

San Cisco is a band from Australia and are an extremely young band, having just recently graduated high school. It’s only fitting that these Aussies write some splendid summery songs, seeing how every day is summer in Australia. Check it out.

Song of the Day Part 1: Cisco – Flying

Toronto – This short two minute synthesizer drenched dance instrumental track has been on rotation since I discovered it about 10 minutes ago. It’s a simple little track with a lovely progression, yet it’s absolutely kicking. All I know about this artist is that he’s from Spain and is off the label Wave Collective. It’s not easy to internet search this person who has the same name as a certain high power technology company who probably has the top 100 search result pages of the term ‘cisco’ purchased from Google. Let this be a lesson to you kids. Don’t name your bands after high power, high indexing technological companies.

This song reminds me of a pleasant time a few months ago in Barcelona when me and a few of my friends went to this club called Apolo Sala and they played a healthy and awesome dose of electro synth pop that lasted us well into the night. I still remember ordering a rum and coke for about five euros, and then the girl poured an entire glass full of rum and handed me a bottle of coke. I remember ordering two more of those, and then taking a random bus trying to get home, only to get lost and then discovering how cheap cabs are. Oh..vacations.

Song of the Day: Hooded Fang – Den of Love

Toronto – I’m not overly familiar with Toronto’s Hooded Fang but the people in the circles that I travel within often marvel about them like a kid with a cardboard box. With such glowing endorsements, I decided to check out some tracks off their new record, Tosta Mista which sounds like someone saying “Toast, Mister” in a heavy Chinese accent. The record is Hooded Fang’s second record, and first with the newly created Dap Records. I am currently enjoying a song off this album called “Den of Love” which sounds like a ’50s crooner wedding song for some reason. I can totally imagine some slicked up greaser at some low budget hall asking the local gal to slow dance to this track. Check it out

Hooded Fang will be kicking off Summerwork‘s musical festivities on August 5th. Check them out.

Also, donate money to Summerworks, since their funding got pulled by the government because they put on an act about terrorism. Seriously, how stupid is that. Did Fox pull funding after Jack Bauer shot up some Libyans in 24? hell no, they ordered seven more seasons (four of which were unnecessary). Anyways, yea, donate.
