Song of The Day: HAEPAARY – Born by Irreproachable Gorgeousness (Live at SXSW 2022)

It’s now been over a month since this year’s edition of SXSW ended and just yesterday, the festival shared a bunch of live performance footage from several of this year’s shows, including a song from one of the more memorable acts we saw all week – HAEPAARY. The Seoul-based duo blend together traditional South Korean sounds with electronic elements to produce something rather unique.

Check out HAEPAARY’s performance at the International Day Stage in Brush Square Park below.

Song Of The Day: The Wedding Present – Monochrome

While The Wedding Present haven’t put out a proper full length album since 2016’s Going Going …, they’ve certainly kept busy during the time since then with various projects, including re-recordings of entire classic albums of theirs and a collection of James Bond theme covers. And 2022 will be no different, with David Gedge and co. currently in the midst of their 24 Songs project, which sees the band releasing a 7″ single for each month of the year.

The Wedding Present’s latest release in this project, “Monochrome”, falls on the gentler side of their musical pallete and is a welcome addition to the band’s discography. Check it out below.

Song Of The Day: Aeon Station – Fade

It’s now been almost three weeks since SXSW 2022 came to a close, and while we recently finished up our SouthBy coverage, that doesn’t mean we’ve quite put it all in the rear view mirror just yet. Now that everything’s settled down a bit, it’s time to take a look back at the bands we didn’t get to see and the music we didn’t get to hear while in Austin. There were several bands and artists that were on my list of acts to see that I didn’t get to see for whatever reason and one of those was New Jersey indie rockers Aeon Station.

The new project of Kevin Whelan, formerly of The Wrens, Aeon Station just released their debut album Observatory late last year and it’s probably the closest thing we’ll ever get to a new Wrens album following that band’s implosion years ago. “Fade” is one of the standout tracks, a big, driving number that just seems to keep getting bigger as the song goes along. Check it out below.

Observatory is out now via Sub Pop Records.
