Song of the Day: Enumclaw – Cowboy Bebop

Enumclaw is a band from Tacoma, Washington who just released their debut full length Save The Baby last month via Luminelle Recordings.

Enumclaw also happens to be the name of a city near Tacoma which has a very unfortunate and somewhat disturbing Google search result … the sordid details of which I won’t get into here. But, yeah, it’s a doozy. Here’s hoping Enumclaw the band will someday get big enough that they become the new number one search result for “Enumclaw” without having to add the qualifier of “band” at the end.

I will speak no more of Enumclaw the place, though I will say a few more words on Enumclaw the band. While their Twitter bio may cheekily refer to them as the “best band since Oasis,” there doesn’t seem to be too much of a Gallagher brothers influence in there. Rather, the band’s sound is much more reminiscent of other ’90s stalwarts, with shades of Dinosaur Jr, Pavement and Sonic Youth coming through in their songs. Check out the video for one of those songs, “Cowboy Bebop,” below.

Song of the Day: Sloan – Dream It All Over Again

After three decades as a band, Sloan are pretty much elder statesmen now and with their new album Steady, the band proves that they’re still at the top of their game.

Case in point: the sweet power pop sound of latest single “Dream It All Over Again.” Check it out.
