…And You Will Know Us by The Trail of Dead are kind of known for their big, epic productions, but with their 11th album XI: Bleed Here Now, the band may have even gone just a big bigger and more epic this time around. I mean, the opening track on the album is even entitled “Epic Attempts” – you can’t get more on the nose than that.

And while XI: Bleed Here Now certainly does offer up plenty of big, heavy, grandiose moments, the band also takes the time to showcase their softer side as well. Case in point: “Growing Divide”, a gentle, folkish ballad that also features fellow Austinite Britt Daniel. Check it out below.

XI: Bleed Here Now is out now via Dine Alone Records.

“Special” is the latest single off of Patina, the upcoming second album from Toronto’s Tallies, which is out on July 29 via Kanine Records/Hand Drawn Dracula/Bella Union.

And, as luck would have it, the band just happens to be playing a record release show at The Garrison on that very night. If you’re in Toronto then, you should check it out. If not, you can still watch the video for “Special” below.

The Utopia Strong, an English trio comprised of Kavus Torabi, Michael J. York, and former snooker player Steve Davis, just recently released their sophomore album International Treasure, an intriguing collection of proggy electronic sounds. Song Of The Day: Luna Li – What You’re Thinking

Today saw the release of the long list for this year’s Polaris Prize, which features, well, pretty much most of the Canadian records of note that came out in the year since the last Polaris (It is called a long list, after all) and while it’s hard to predict which albums will eventually make the short list, one longlist album I’m certainly pulling for is Luna Li’s Duality, an impressive debut album which came out in March of this year.

Check out the video for Luna Li’s “What You’re Thinking” below and check out the full long list here.
