Following yesterday’s post on the Hedvig Mollestad Trio, we continue on with the general theme of Scandinavian women making cool music with this folky number from Denmark’s Myrkur.
Primarily known as a black metal musician, Myrkur (aka Amelie Bruun) has always taken influence from the sounds of the past, but with “Bonden og Kragen”, Bruun delves completely into those sounds, offering up a beautiful and haunting take on a traditional Danish folk song that fits nicely within the folk tradition while also fitting in quite well with the rest of her repertoire.
