Song of the Day: Ladyhawke – Sunday Drive

Ladyhawke‘s self titled debut gave us one of the best singles in 2008 with the summer track Paris is Burning. While her second album Anxiety has yet to yield something as immediately catchy as that track, there are several songs that have been burning slowing in my auditory oven for awhile. Meaning, I’ve been liking them more and more with each listen. One of those tracks is the second single off the record called Sunday Drive.

Sunday Drive synth laden intro remains me of an early 80s* movie montage where a little underdog kid from the wrong side of town is training with some old wise man by doing random stuff like lifting tires or sandbags or whatever. That pleases me. Maybe you’ll feel the same.

* If you are too young to get an 80s reference, I guess it could also be a 90**s movie where some new kid in school is training for some sort of dancing competition, because obviously, dancing competitions is where you gain respect in any self respecting high school.

** If you are still too young to get that reference, it could be a 2000’s movie where some new gay kid in school has to do a montage where he/she has to make the school’s glee team or some shit like that.
