Pittsburgh - I know, I know, I have been overposting Penguins stuff lately, but how often does your favorite team make the finals (if you are a Leafs fan — never). The Igloo will be insane tonight and the Penguins (and yours truly) will be making the trek back to Detroit Rock City this weekend for the biggest showdown since ..ever.

Godspeed.

I am pretty much incapable of focusing on things like, music, right now.

First of all, Marc Andre Fleury is the man right now. Sorry Theo, but you are no longer the best Fleury ever in the NHL. Check it.

Here is the Red Wing fans thinking they got the cup. NOPE. Maximus Talbot comes thru:

Petr Sykora doing his best babe ruth imitation here:

Finally this happened:

Seriously though, The Pens Blog recap the game way better then I am able to. Go there now.

Toronto - What a game last nite, karma finally proved those tutu wearing pansy ass diving Red Wings right, and Pittsburgh finally scores a goal. Granted, we barely won, but it’s a start. All that is left is for Malkin and Sykora to show up, and Christmas will come early.

I am not a big fan of Brooks Orpik, but man, this shift here was his life’s legacy:

Toronto - As most people know, hockey is more or less religion in Canada. You might not see it in such an ethnically diverse urban metropolis such as Toronto, but travel to any small town anywhere else in Canada and you will see that people there live and breath hockey. Most of these little towns primarily follow their junior teams as NHL teams are for the big boys. These junior teams are the heart and soul of the cities - which leads to the documentary I saw on Sunday - Junior.

Junior chronicles a year in the life of a junior hockey team - Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL, one of the major factories in creating NHL players. The documentary chronicles most of the things you would want to know about life as a junior hockey - the pressure, the business side of things, the scouts, the wear and tear - pretty much everything of interest happens during the course of the year. The documentary focuses on a few players - the superstar on the team, the new hot shot, the bully and a homesick kid. As cliche as some of these are, you know they exist within the fabrics of most sport teams and it makes for a compelling look at the industry.

The film never shows any hockey clips, and primarily relies on events and peoples reactions to gather emotional momentum. Being a hockey fan, I found this documentary quite intriguing and it provided the public with inside access to all the factors that plague a hockey team and if you are a sports fan, its well worth the effort to go and see it.

4.5/5

Junior plays today at 4:30 at Innis Town Hall, wherever that is.

I hate to end articles on a down note, so here is a song. Call it an ode to these junior players, as they have to grow up quickly and stuff. Or something.:

Toronto - Well, I lost 20 dollars yesterday betting against the Giants. But wow, what a freaking game. Sure it had no flow for most of the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but the 4th..wow. You knew something big was gonna happen. By something big, I mean this:

After you saw this, you pretty much knew that something special was about to happen. A lob pass to Plaxico Burress later (very similar to what Brady and Moss did about 15 times during the regular season) the Giants had slayed the err..giants. Part of me still figure Brady would bomb it to Moss for a touchdown on the next possession, but it didn’t happen. Who would have thought that Eli Manning would gut it out, refusing to get sacked and then tossing a bomb to a no name receiver, who pins it to his helmet and catches it coming down. Now Tom Brady has lost to both Peyton and Eli Manning in successive years.

Regardless, I am pleased that the Patriots did not win, as they are my #1 most hated team. (followed by the Bengals, Ravens and Jaguars)

In other news..

Words can’t describe how bad this video and song is (Higher by Heidi Montag of The Hills fame).
