Toronto – HOUSE OF……….. Jealous Lovers!!! What can you say about this song other then it is definitely one of the top songs of the past ten years. Who hasn’t danced to this (usually followed up with Raveonettes’ Great Love Sound) at their favorite local indie dance club night. This song reminds me of the now defunct Blow Up nights in Toronto. I guess for me that time was pretty memorable as it was when I first moved to Toronto and finally met some peeps who shared similar tastes in music as I did. The early years of the 2000s was pretty damn exciting when you think about it, bands like The White Stripes, the Strokes, BRMC, The Rapture and Yeah Yeah Yeahs all came to the forefront, inspiring all sorts of bands in the next few years.

Anyways, yeah, this is definitely one of the songs I’ve enjoyed in the past ten years.

Toronto – Welcome to the first of what I can only imagine to be a handful articles about songs we’ve liked in the past 10 years. A lot of other sites are making lists. Well, I say, fuck lists. My head would explode anyways if I tried it so anyways. Instead, I shall just write about a bunch of songs I liked in the past ten years.

First one up is the song Shining Light off Ash. Its hard to believe the album Free All Angels is only 9 years old. It was (in my mind) Ash’s last great album and had a chalkful of radio worthy singles including Burn Baby Burn, Sometimes and Walking Barefoot. Then the band moved to LA, lost Charlotte Hatherleyand tried to focus on other things. Come back to us Ash!

OH yeah, Ash is a Northern Ireland band with a flair for humor and a light pop/brit pop sound.
