Category: Chapter 4 - Four for Four

Vancouver…rainy, couldy, depressing Vancouver. It should come as no surprise that this week’s installment reflects the Westcoasters current state of mind. It was tough to find artists other than The Smiths to fit the bill without having to resort to posting My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park, which I know Ricky would have loved and expressed it by yelling ‘I wish I was never born!!!’, slamming the bedroom door shut and weeping into his already mascara stained pillow.

This weeks installment consists of songs that use perhaps my favorite of all percussion instruments, the xylophone. And what better way to express my love for this instrument and call my manhood into question by posting 4 of the twee-est songs I could find. Enjoy:

So we were brainstorming some cool stuff to post and decided to start a new weekly music segment. When you listen to as much music as we do, you probably come across songs that sound familiar or a certain trend and think ‘hey, instead of work, why don’t I go through my entire music collection and compile a list of songs that sound the same’. Well save yourself the trouble because we’ve already done it for you. Welcome to four for four.

For this weeks segment I’ve decided to use the shoegazers anthem “Just Like Honey” by The Jesus and Mary Chain - the same song that was used quite fittingly at the end of ‘Lost in Translation’…Sophia Coppola, I love her maaan! Okay, for those who know this track (and for those who don’t I’ve posted it below) you can probably tell what song it is within the first few seconds because of the distinct intro. It sounds like a crapload of other bands felt like following the same trend. Here’s my list of four for four: Mary Chain style. Check it! *snaps fingers in Ali-G stylee*:

We are probably the first and only indie-twee-britpop-rock, video game-movie-travel-food-gadget reviewing, asian centric-maritime influenced Canadian blog on the interweb.

All MP3s posted are just samples. Go buy the CD if you like it. The MP3s will be up for a duration of two weeks. If you are a representative of the band and wish to have the mp3 removed, please email us here
