UK Duo Babeheaven was slated to play SXSW last year, but obviously were unable to do so. Now they will be playing this year for SXSW Online which is a bit unfortunate, because I think they would have made a lot of fans if they had an actual live showcase this year.
They sound remarkably polished for a relatively new act, and I’m sure much of that will be accredited to Jamie Travis’s production. Regardless, the duo’s music is built around singer Nancy Anderson’s great vocals.
Check out their song “Human Nature”, the hazy vibe of which has elements of ’90s trip hop but is not quite the same. Kinda like when you eat southern Indian curry instead of Northern. It’s kinda similar, but in some ways, completely different. Weird analogy I know, but that’s 2021.
