Toronto – I will fully admit that I checked out a track from Toronto band Topanga based purely on the band’s name, which is obviously a character on 90s show featuring Fred Savage’s less talented younger brother – Boy Meets World. This track, titled Lionheart is a rousing indie rock track that bursts forward with the energy and excitement that Tokyo Police Club had a few years ago before they got all boring and stuff. The catchy chorus, gang vocals and upbeat nature of the track definitely brings forth a familiarity that one can’t quite place (or is too lazy to) but it’s a good track so you should check it out.
Topanga is playing Saturday, June 18th at 10pm in the Comfort Zone. Performing alongside Japanese band Peelander Z (12am), Biblical (1am), and the next U2, Neon Windbreaker (11pm).
