Toronto – Never one to let free stuff get away, here is a plethora of free samplers for you just in time for NXNE. Most of the artists on these compilations are playing this week and so if you like what you see here, go check them out.
Static Zine
My dear, dear friends over at Static Zine have compiled a nice mix tape of local artists in celebration of their zine launch, some of whom are playing NXNE this year. Head over to their webpage here to pick up the compilation. Artists involved include Austra, Maylee Todd, The Ruby Spirit, The Wilderness of Manitoba and Allie Hughes. Once you do that, check out their launch party where many more local bands will be playing at Christie Pits. The facebook event page is here.
Dine Alone Records
Not to be outdone, Toronto’s very own Dine Alone Records has released a summer compilation of their artists music, including bands such as Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Megan Bonnell, Loom and the always emotastic City and Colour. Check out the site here, or just stream it below.

Paper Bag Records
Not to be outdone, another Toronto record label, Paper Bag Records has also put out a free summer sampler featuring the red hot Austra, 90s grunge revivalist PS I Love You and the increasingly popular Rural Alberta Advantage. This record label is currently on superb streak of great releases so this compilation is about as good as they come, in terms of free samplers. Check it out here

Outside Music
Last, but certainly not least, Canadian record label Outside Music is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and they have released a compilation to commemorate this event. Home of popular Canadian artists such as Black Mountain, Jill Barber and The Besnard Lakes, it’s a great accomplishment to have been in the industry for a decade. Click here to check out their compilation, which features tracks by Sloan, The Sadies and Brian’s favorite band, The Sunparlour Players.
