afterparty

Toronto – Meet AfterpartY, a band that refuses to follow standing spelling conventions. A electro pop act fronted by Kristina B, you would think that they are the latest fad out of good ole England. NOPE. These guys are locally grown and grain fed. A product of Toronto, the band follows a pretty standard synth driven sound with sleazy guitars and (from what I can tell based on a few songs) pretty decent hooks. Kristina B sounds a bit like a young Kylie mixed in with one of the chicks off the Donnas..or Nina Gordon. Anyways, the single Soft City is pretty good, I would check it out if I were you and support some local products, because it’s pretty good for the economy. Their full length album Soft City was produced by the late Haydain Neale and the not late Rob Sanzo. It should be out on January 26th, 2010 aka Wayne Gretzky’s birthday. I don’t even like the guy and I know when his birthday is, it’s these moments in life when I realize that I am truly a Canadian, and not a Chinaman. But then again, I crave congee always, so maybe I’m a bit of both.

Love this track! I’ve seen the band live before and they put on an amazing show. Definitely worth checking out if you’ve got the chance.
