Toronto – Deadmau5 is a Toronto based DJ known for house music. What is house music..and why is it called house music? I don’t know. Anyways, he’s been on the scene for a few years now but only recently have I listened to his tracks, now that I’ve read something about the guy, it definitely appeals to my geek factor:
‘Deadmau5′, Zimmermans’ DJ name comes from an incident where a mouse crawled into his computer. ‘Dead Mouse’ was too long for an IRC login name, so he abbreviated it to be the “leet speak” spelling “Deadmau5″[3] Comfortable with computers at an early age Zimmerman started making music with with modtrackers and DOS-programming for the demoscene.
I think he played a show with Late of the Pier and the Whip earlier this year, a show that I SHOULD have gone to, but did not, probably due to laziness. His latest album For Lack of a Better Name is out this Tuesday and after an initial listen of it, I can say that this album is kickin it and definitely something you can put on for a Friday Night Dance Party. Who else has a song named after a meme website?

What is house music..and why is it called house music?…
house music is a general term for underground dance music… and it’s called house music simply because, in it’s early years in chicago people would flok to the local record store asking for tracks they would hear at THE WAREHOUSE, music heard at the warehouse was in such high demand the record store owners started labeling records * as heard at the warehouse* time went on and people got lazy and just started labeling it as * house music * ….
