Toronto – Music has slowed down severely lately. There are some new albums out, but nothing has made me want to write about them. Maybe the new Florence and the Machines album.. maybe. Other albums I have been listening to include the new Nouvelle Vague. The new Cass McCombs is suppose to be pretty good too (according to bitchfork).

First off, check out this bear we met on our cottage trip this weekend

Let me tell you, they might say black bears are the smaller bears in the family, but those things are still quite massive. I mean, I know they are omnivorous and the chances of them attacking you is not very high, but I think 30 foot buffer is pretty good when trying to take a picture with your iphone. Anyways, that was pretty cool. I highly recommend cottages, if you have a chance to go, it’s good to be in touch with nature, as long as it doesn’t touch you back in a predatory way.

Lets look at some random music news for today:

If anyone can tell me what the dude who commented on our one year old Bon Iver concert review is going about, that’d be great.

Simian Mobile Disco‘s new album “Temporary Pleasure” comes out August 18th, there are already 3 dates for them:

Aug 6 * Ogden * Denver, CO
Aug 7 * Lollapalooza * Chicago, IL
Aug 9 * Jelly NYC Pool Party @ Williamsburg Waterfront * NYC

Keep your fingers crossed boys and girls, NYC is pretty close to Toronto..

Cincinnati’s Bad Veins has garnered a lot of postive attentions from all the right places and their sounds sound pretty good on myspace. You can check them out at the Horseshoe on Wednesday (heckle them for liking the Bengals), playing on August 2nd at the El Mocambo.

Aug 4 Heirloom Arts Theatre – Danbury <- wtf is this place?
Aug 5 North Star - Philadelphia
Aug 6 The Mercury Lounge - New York
Aug 7 Garfield Artworks - Pittsburgh
Aug 9 Picador - Iowa City <- must be only show of the year for this city. muhaha.

Also, check out Grizzly Bear's video on Letterman
