jackson

Toronto – I guess everyone has had their say on Jacko biting it the other day. What a weird, weird day. First Farrah Fawcett dies, then Michael Jackson, then the NBA draft. What’s with all these two bit celebrities giving their opinions and sentiments? I think it’s just their chance to grab a lil publicity. Corey Fieldman showed up somewhere! Yay. Anyways, it goes without saying that Michael Jackson changed the face of music with his music. I’ll let others dissect and analyze whatever his legacy is, but we all know he was important and I think his death was up their with Diana, Lennon, JFK and Elvis in terms of sheer global magnitude.

I was too young to realize how big he was in the 80s, but I do think one of my favorite Michael Jackson moments of all time was Jarvis Cocker/Jacko at the Brit awards:

Another fond moment of Michael Jackson was in grade 7, when near the end of the year, a bunch of people in the grade classes did this air guitar/lip sync performance thing, and this girl named Amy and her friends did this version of the Jacko song from Free Willy. Only Amy was a girl and she was impersonating Michael! She was also very good at soccer so I spent the rest of junior high wondering if she was a lesbian.

Anyways, if you want to fondly remember Michael Jackson and live in Toronto, there is a flashmob thing going on at 9 pm – click here for more information. Lots of people will be randomly dancing to the tunes of the King of Pop, and if I know Toronto, there’s probably a bunch of Asians there crying their heads off as well. Probably Indonesians (he was really big there).
