Toronto – NXNE probably brings in a lot of out of towners, well, let us local types let you know where to stand for certain popular venues. The Horseshoe Tavern is “legendary” and will probably host a majority of the good shows at NXNE. It is on 370 Queen Street West near Queen and Spadina. The place is small so if you want to get in, make sure you are early. The space itself is narrow, so unless you are tall, you might want to push your way to the front. The spots to the left of the stage isn’t that great since its typically where all the speakers are. Along the right side of the space is a bunch of tables, so if you are early, you can sit there or stand up on the chairs or something. I personally like two spots, both marked with an X. Spot #1 is near the pillar. Anytime you can stand beside or in front of something solid, that means that no one from that direction will try to steal your personal space. The pillar also allows for leaning, which is always great. Spot #2 is in the middle about 20 feet back, I like it because it is right by the air conditioning vent, this is very important for summer shows, when it becomes a virtual sauna inside this venue. You also block off all the assholes sitting down behind you.
