Toronto – For those of you who are fans of Arts and Craft label (ie. everyone), they will be having their showcase at the Courthouse Wednesday and Thursday evening at NXNE. I’m not going to list the bands that are being played, but if u look at the poster..Thursday has a “SURPRISE GUEST HEADLINER”. I wonder who that is…any guesses?
Lets take a look at some candidates (off the Arts and Craft label)
Amy Milan – I say no, because it would she has a show at the Harborfront on July 25, playing now will diminish the impact of that show
Bell Orchestre – Would elicit a big “WHO???” from the crowd
BSS – Well, Jason Collett was on the bill on wednesday, and they still have to recover from the whole Island debacle. I would put my money on them.
Constantines – Same deal as Amy Milan, playing Harborfront
Gentleman Reg – He plays here weekly it seems, so I don’t think him playing would get any reaction from a crowd.
Los Campesinos! – Was here a few months ago, and it’s expensive to fly all the way from Wales in this economy of ours.
The Stills – Playing in Edgest on the Saturday, they are in town so maybe another good bet. Have they made anything worthy since that one they did with the “Still in Love” song?
Stars – Probably in town, I don’t know if they have anything coming up. I would say..no.
Feist – too busy dining on fine wine and chees in France probably. New Iphones coming out, She probably has to work on a song for the commercial (“1..2..3gs..4″)
Hidden Cameras – With Pride just around the corner, they probably don’t want to unveil new tricks/too busy shopping for parade.
Non Arts and Craft bands..
Sloan – Would probably play for a case of 24, has their own label so no record company would really care. Lives in the city.
Pursuit of Happiness – Moe Berg’s around, you never know.
Steven Page – Ex BNL member is familiar with places called “Courthouse”
Who do you think it is?

Horaayy..there are 9 comment(s) for me so far ;)
My money is on Feist. She’s been hanging out in front of The Common coffee shop. Heard she bought a house around College and Dufferin.
is she your neighbor then?
Yes. Unfortunately with its proximity to the Ossington strip between Dundas and Queen College and Dufferin is becoming hipster central. I should have known this would happen when a fixie bike shop, Hoopdriver, opened up next to The Common. Which now, incidentally, has applied for a liquor license. A coffee shop that serves booze?! Seriously, the area needs less sandal wearing, art school drop outs rubbing their fixies blocking the sidewalk with their impromptu happenings. But since the kids no longer consider Feist a jive motherfucker, though I could be wrong about that since I really can’t be bothered to keep up with what’s ‘cool’ any more, she might help keep at least a few of them out of the neighbourhood.
It’s The Stills as the special guest. Don’t ask how I know I just know.
The Stills…mehhhh.
I saw Feist in the Dovercourt post office one day. She walked in, looked around and left.
Oh, and I ran into Baisa Bulat at Saving Gigi.
I heard Kevin Drew bought a house on Ossington where that crew records stuff now.
Danielle, you are hipster central with your bike side bags and skirt wearing, biking ass.
One more thing…the movie Kevin Drew made with Feist is showing at the worldwide short film festival this week. They’ll probably be at the screening.

Wade, I may enjoy wearing skirts but never on my bike! But otherwise I think you have me mistaken for someone else.
… don’t even get me started on Chris Murphy joining the YMCA on College a few weeks ago. As if that place wasn’t crowded enough already.
That dude should have joined the gym long ago. Walking your kids along College isn’t exactly a “Last Chance Work Out”. Did i just quote The Biggest Loser?
i suck.
damn we were right!
