(Toronto) The Panic Manual & Friends BBQ was a great success thanks to the kind folks at Steam Whistle Brewing and Carlsberg. What can you say about companies that support local blogging outfits other then thanks!

In honor of Carlsberg’s synonymy with soccer, many of our guests kicked around the soccer ball in hopes of knocking down a pyramid of cups. In honor of the Steam Whistle Brewery, which is situated in the John Street Round House, the non-soccer playing guests sat on their asses, drank beer and ate hot dogs in an attempt to get rounder.

Most guests took home a shiny Carlsberg bottle opener and some took home ice buckets that doubled as pretty green trash bins. One lucky duck got a poker set, and the mysterious beer-bottle pyramid templates might have gotten converted into serving trays with a severe design flaw. I have to say, Carlsberg’s sleek, noticeably slimmer, label-less beer bottle is kinda sexy.

For the Steam Whistle we called upon their Home Delivery Service to provide us with their Pilsner. Yes, they deliver it right to your front door. Ben, our Steam Whistle delivery guy, was handsome, personable and smelled like hops. The Carlsberg dude came around in a Taurus.

I’d like to think that our BBQ was not about Steam Whistle vs. Carlsberg, or even about who won the impromptu 2-on-2 soccer game or even about the winner of the cup pyramid soccer kick contest. No, it was about people. People getting drunk. Yes, the spirit of togetherness…no wait, I mean the spirit of getting drunk and watching hockey. Both beers were excellent compliments for summers, and bbq.
