This week’s Friday Night Dance Party feature is kind of a combination between that and a review. It’s worth it though, so hang tight.
Basically, it’s another case of “last to know” for me.. it would appear the music blogosphere has been all over this track this week, it has been #1 on Hype Machine at least the last two days and I just became aware of it yesterday. The first link I clicked in relation to this song was written by someone at Binary, which is an LA dance music cooperative/record label, and based on what they wrote, I was sold on it before I even heard it. Everyone in the world seems to be into “Apollo” and I can see why – it just has this epic “everything is going to be okay if you just keep listening to this” feel to it. I can easily picture myself walking through a big city at night listening to it, OR dancing my ass off to it in a club. Versatile!
Other pertinent info: We Plants Are Happy Plants is Péter Bergmann, a producer from Budapest. The “548″ EP is the first release from Load Aim Fire, which has the pay-what-you-think-it’s-worth approach going on with their music. Their philosophy in its entirety reminds me very much of Rough Trade back in the late 70′s (not that I was even alive then… but I KNOW SOME STUFF, OKAY?) and it’s great to see record labels trying to keep that sort of vision going. The track I’m featuring is not on the EP – but the six songs on it are great, they flow very well and I’ve enjoyed it several times today. It’s available for download at their site, and you can listen to individual We Plants Are Happy Plants tracks on myspace.

Sorry, no comments yet.
