Toronto – Fresh off the heels of being the guest vocalist on one of the dopest tracks of 2008 ( Aeroplanes remix of Friendly Fire’s “Paris“) Au Revoir Simone is back this year with their second full length LP – “Still Night, Still Life”. Lets take a moment here to reflect on the Brooklyn trio’s past, and by reflecting, I mean lets post a picture of Wade with the band from 2007.

Okay, reflecting time is over. Still Night, Still Life is synthy, dreamy goodness. While most bands that rely on a synth/drum combo use it to create a soundtrack for your Saturday night clubbing experience, the girls from Au Revoir Simone go the opposite way, using the synths to create a more downbeat, mellow vibe. It almost feels like a come down album, something you would put on after a night of partying where you are lying down on some grass field somewhere all out of sorts, and you are looking at the stars, wondering about life on other planets. It’s that type of mood that Erika Forster, Annie Hart and Heather D’Angelo create with their harmonizing vocals, drum machine and keyboards. The album is rather consistent in sound and tone throughout, as I am having a hard time picking out stand out tracks. I would guess “Knights of Wands”, “Take me as I am” and “Anywhere you looked” are three that I would recommend.
The album is out May 19th.

Horaayy..there are 9 comment(s) for me so far ;)
I know he must of just paid for a CD, but the way she’s holding the money in that picture says to me “oh yes, it’ll cost you to pose with this hotness.”
I look like a retard. Based on looks, i wouldn’t want to be my own friend in that picture.
Great show which, of course, Ricky missed because he doesn’t do openers.
We are pretty sure Annie Hart posing with Wade is Doug Marvin (drummer from Dirty on Purpose’s) wife.
Actually check that, we are 100% certain..we googled it: http://www.mtv.com/news/yhif/dop_ars/
And yes, Ricky is an opener-snob.

[...] Toronto – Thursday night was a big concert night for the city of Toronto – The National were in town and the Over the Top festival was in full gear, including a Dinosaur Bones/ Sebastien Grainger show at the Whipper Snappe gallery. So I guess it should be to no surprise that Brooklyn’s Au Revoir Simone played to a sparse crowd at Lee’s Palace. The band was in town to promote the release of their new album “Still Night, Still Light” which came out on Tuesday. I reviewed the album here. [...]
