Toronto – What a crappy few days. It has been raining non stop and it is so windy outside it my umbrella broke. Luckily, some schmuck will forget their umbrella on a subway once again, allowing me to procure another one of these rain shielding devices without contributing to our downward economy. I don’t know about you, but when the weather is rainy outside, I like to listen to mellow chill out music. Something about gray skies doesn’t scream ‘electro dancey remix pop’.

Enter Lewis and Clarke, a folk band from America. Asides from making me waste time from reading about the original Lewis and Clarke on wikipedia, Lewis and Clarke create a nice cosy intimate sound mainly using acoustic guitars and and the strong voice of Lou Rogai, who was probably an extra on the set of There Will Be Blood, judging by his press picture. The music is basically a stripped down sound, makes me think of a cabin, a fire, a flannel shirt and winter.

You can stream their latest EP “Light Time” here. It’s available May 12 at your usual cd outlets.

Lewis and Clarke open for Bat For Lashes at the Mod Club on Saturday.

Hopefully people will shut up during their set, but I doubt it. Anyways, here’s a song.
