I hate remixes. I suppose that it’s because I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with new music that I don’t need to try and keep up with new remixes of new music that I haven’t even heard yet. However, these days I am really into bands from Halifax, Final Fantasy and small intimate shows. Which brings me to this…
Halifax based The Darcys are kicking off a three month Canadian tour this Thursday night, March 26th at the Whippersnapper Gallery. To help promote the tour, the band is releasing a recorded version of their guitar rendition of Final Fantasy’s The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead as a free download through their website.
I suppose that this new Darycys song isn’t a remix, but a cover. Which is OK. Listening to a cover of a song requires much less brainpower than a remix. Check out The Darcys version and the original Final Fantasy song below. I love the new theme song for DNTO that Final Fantasy did for Sook-Yin. Yah, go Owen.
You may also want to check out a guy named Christoper O’Riley, a classical pianist. He adapts Radiohead songs, which usually prompts people like my parents to ask me if I have ever heard of The Radioheads. Skip to the 4:00 mark to see him wig out.
