Toronto – Hipster alert! Your first must have album of 2009 has arrived. Straight out of California comes N.A.S.A (North America South America) – two friends Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon who have come together and put out a truly kick ass album. The Spirit of Apollo comes out February 17th and like Mark Ronson, MIA, Santogold and all other hip hop cross over acts before it, I think NASA is primed for an explosion.

Why the excitement? N.A.S.A’s album is basically a collection of famous acts coming together to put together just a kick ass party album. Here is a list of the acts that are collaborating on this album:

David Byrne
Chuck D
Method Man
Serge Jou
Fatlip
KRS-One
Karen O
ODB
Tom Waits
Kanye West
Santogold
Lykke Li
M.I.A
Spank Rock
Ghostface Killah

Looking at the collective names on this list, there is no way this album doesn’t kick ass. I guess it comes across as a bit Avalanches electronic vibe, a bit Mark Ronson horns and brass vibe, a bit Go! Team retro ‘copy and paste’ sound and a lot of party-esque hip hop music.

I’m still in the process of absorbing this album as a whole, but it is quite the spectacle so far.
