Toronto – This year has been a good year for music. Here are some albums I enjoyed this year. As usual, there is way too much music to give a fully in depth review. I know everyone is jizzing in their pants over Frightened Rabbit, Bon Iver, The Bug and TV On The Radio. Frankly, I have heard all those albums but have had no real time to listen to them to form an opinion. So here are some albums I enjoyed this year, in alphabetical order, because I am basically looking at my music folder and that is in alphabetical order.

British Sea Power – Do You Like Rock Music – I think I’ve written enough about these guys, but yea, solid album through out.

Cut Copy – In Ghost Colours – Strong electro pop album from these Aussies led to a resurgence of Aussie electro pop acts, which also included The Presets, Ladyhawke (well, she’s New Zealand, but whatev) and Empire of the Sun. The singles on this album are exceptionally strong.

Empire Of The Sun – Walking On A Dream – Tracks 1,2,3,4 – While the album kind of drops off after the first four tunes, these first four tunes are quite fantastic and brings that nice 80s dance vibe to your ears.

Fleet Foxes – Ragged Wood – A great summer soundtrack that got released at just the right time. Its laid back, folksy and makes you want to sit outside and play frisbee all day.

Flight of the Conchords – Self Titled – Just cos the show is so awesome. The lyrics are hilarity (binary solo!) and the music is actually pretty good.

Hercules and Love Affair – Self Titled – The song ‘Blind’ is enough to make this album good, but the disco beats on this album are pretty strong through out.

Hot Chip – Made in the Dark – Another good laid back dance album. A trend maybe emerging. Also, my favorite concert of the year this side of James.

MGMT – Oracular Spectacular – Tracks 1,2,3,4,5 – As played out as they are, and as hip it would be to say that you are excluding them from your list, lets face it – the first five tunes off this album are awesome. If you could put the first half of the Empire of the Sun record with the first half of this one, you would have one super album.

My Morning Jacket – Evil Urges – Probably my second most listened to album this year, Southern USA finally comes up something worthy to justify their existence.

Part 2 to come whenever

Here is a Cut Copy remixed by Hercules and Love Affair. How about that?
