Fantastic show on Monday - Robert Smith sure delivered. Three hours, three encores, songs spanning three decades of work, and an energized crowd to boot. Push, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Hundred Years & Forest were done powerfully. Oldies like 10:15, Grinding Halt and Jumping Someone Else's Train sounded better than I ever thought they could live,...and to think it's been 30 years since they were written! God, those songs don't age! The best part? Smith voice... sounding clear, pure, and young. He's still got it.

Good angle David. Your comment on the keyboards was the third time I heard someone mention it's absence. Seeing as it was my first time watching I didn't even notice, but I could see how it would improve the overall sound.

Last night marked the fifth time I've seen The Cure. Three times in native England, and twice in Vancouver. I have to say that I came away disappointed last night though.

Sure, the show was long and yes, they packed in most of the great songs, (Faith was missed though). But the lack of keyboard was a real downer. I'm not a big fan of keyboards normally, but I grew up with these songs, all having a healthy dose of keyboard and it was sorely lacking.

I also thought that Porl must have been on something. He reminded me a lot of when U2 went all weird. He just didn't fit with the band and I didn't see Smith even acknowledge him. I began thinking they must have had some kind of rift and Porl was saying "oh yeah, well how about this to ruin the look of the band"?

I also thought that the sound was poorly mixed, often times I couldn't hear either guitar. And just as often Smith was 1/3 the way through the song before I could recognise it.

Simon Gallup stole the show and I agree with the review that the drums sounded fantastic.

On the whole, as one of the biggest Cure fans going and as someone that owns *everything* they've ever done, I found last night to be a disappointment. I'll still go to their next show, but with a little less excitement.

Just one guys opinion...
