The second track on the new Vampire Weekend cd is called Oxford Comma and the first line of this song is:

“Who gives a fuck about an oxford comma?”

That’s a good question. Wait a minute, what the fuck is an oxford comma? Thanks to Wiki, let me tell ya. The oxford comma is the comma used immediately before a grammatical conjunction that precedes the last item in a list of three or more items.

For example, the phrase “Portugal, Spain, and France”, is written with the oxford comma (the comma between “Spain” and “and”), while “Portugal, Spain and France”, is written without it. The two statements have the identical meaning and there is currently no consensus among writers or editors on the use of the oxford comma.

Hmmm. Interesting. Ricky’s Vampire Weekend post HERE. Vampire Weekend is at the Horseshoe in Toronto this Monday night. It’s gonna be packed.
