Toronto - I hate the title Order of the Phoenix. This is because it’s initials are OOTP, and whenever I see OOTP, I think of Out Of The Park, a baseball simulation game that i’ve been playing for like, six years. However, it is hard not to get caught up in the hype of the Pot and seeing as how pretty much every other Harry Potter movie was pretty good, I had no choice but watch this one.
This movie was pretty good. I am thinking, as long as they don’t cast Brett Ratner to direct a movie, this franchise is in pretty good shape. I find it moderately lame that these wizards can’t use their powers in the real world. What the hell do you have these spells for? You can bet if I had that power, I’d being using my spells. Like, even to get the remote control or something. I guess this is a movie where you have to suspend your beliefs and stuff. Since I have not read of the Potty books, I can’t really compare what was in and out of the book. I thought this movie moved along quite nicely and there was a fair amount of action. I thought the inclusion of the giant thingy was kinda useless, maybe he does more stuff in the subsequent movies. I don’t know. The Luna girl seems like she’s smoked two pounds of weed every time she talks, which is kinda weird because man, where would she get that amount of weed at that age and how could she afford it?
Overall, a solid movie. Did anyone else notice they were playing Ordinary Boys - Boys will be boys during the first school scene? Is that sposda be symbolic or something. Probably.
Funny how JK Rowlings has the one minority person in the school as the traitor to the Dumbledores Army. I bet if Hogwarts would admit some black students, they would be the first to die in a fight as well.
4/5
ps. i just remembered there were two brown chicks in the movie, but i also remember they were portrayed as cold manipulative bitches in the previous flick
ps #2. I also went to chapters last nite and read the last page of the last book. So i can tell you whether or not the ending is happy or sad.
